Set in the heart of the Oporto historic centre, Casa Almada is a designer furniture store. They trade in period and antique furniture and objects. They have an in store team to repair and restore the goods before going on sale. Joana Rosa was brought in to design a showroom and workshop. The new-build is discreet and camouflaged into the surroundings, yet assertive, and daring in design. It is a completely dismountable structure, clad with corrugated steel like many clandestine structures that extend the historic centre and hide in its gardens. In this all-steel construction, the white lacy steel sheets distinguish the display area from the workshop space which extends outdoors to a back garden and view on the city.
