ALICE'S HOUSE

As the projects name recalls that other famous Alice who was lost in wonderland. This project was a commission to create a playground and family home for a young Dutch family in the city of Oporto. In total unison with the marvellous 19th century town house an inventive intervention at times surrealist at times incongruous takes place. Spaces are clad in texture and colour of the most natural beauty. All techniques revived and revisited from the pigmentation of the traditional lime plaster applied on remade lath and walls throughout to the disintegration of the traditional patterns of the handmade pigmented concrete floor tiles. All that comes out 'must' come in; floorboards become ceilings and doors become furniture, windows to partitions and skirting becomes mouldings!
