PICABA

2007

This restaurant is a result of the following request: a restaurant that becomes a bar and serves both the beach crowd and the professional business types. It is casual, hard wearing and versatile. The final piece this curious place with tables hanging from the lamps and radiators 'falling off' the wall. The levering systems are finely articulated mechanical systems that individually wind up and down to the rhythms of this cafe. In the continuation of a series of experimentations of this practice with cement, here, the service area is separated from the dining area by a concrete wall that through carefully controlled pigmentation recreates a seascape. This project is the outcome of collaboration with AA Graduate Pedro Jervell.
